The economic boom in Latin America

  • Unscathed by the credit crunch, South America is growing robustly on the back of a slowly recovering world economy. Brazil's latest quarterly growth is 11.4% and Argentina's 12.5%. estimates for 2010 are 7.8% and 6.8% respectively. The 2008 World Wealth Report by Capgemini and Merrill Lynch noted that Latin America was the second fastest-growing wealth market in the world in 2007 and had registered a 12.2% increase in the number of new millionaires.

The economy of Mendoza is built on deeper foundations than the country as a whole. Its wine industry, offering quality and affordability, is going from strength to strength. The tourism industry is developing strongly in its wake. The real estate sector, a natural beneficiary from these trends, has lagged because Mendoza is still (but not for long) best known in the wine world.

The opportunity therefore exists for a development like Valle de Uco Golf, Wine & Country to enter this under-developed market and become the benchmark luxury resort in the region.

  • The LATAM customer

  • "Coming out of the downturn, the [LATAM] region does not carry the same kind of baggage as seen in the developed world where much larger fiscal needs... and much weaker labour markets... conspire to keep growth more subdued." Morgan Stanley Global Economic Forum.

The affluent Latin American (LATAM) customer is the main target buyer in the Valle de Uco Golf, Wine & Country development. Not only is Mendoza within easy reach from across the region but wealth here is growing strongly.
