Argentina is the second largest country in South America, bordered by the spectacular Andes mountain range to the west and the Atlantic Ocean to the east. The golden years of its prosperity and prominence were between 1880 and 1929 when agricultural export made it one of the ten richest countries in the world. Argentina is still one of the G-20 major economies of the world.

Tourism to Argentina has been increasing by over 10% per year in recent years and generates US$25 billion for the country every year. Most visitors fly into Buenos Aires, once dubbed the Paris of the Southern Hemisphere, to admire its fine European-style architecture, sample its restaurants and legendary nightlife and take in a tango show.

Thanks to a comprehensive network of roads, railways and domestic flights across Argentina, tourists often opt to explore the country's stunning natural beauty beyond the capital. The lush pampas with their gauchos and ranches are only a few hours' drive outside Buenos Aires and the flight to Iguazú Falls on the border of Brazil is less than an hour. Tierra del Fuego in Patagonia has some of the most stunning scenery in South America and the wineries of Mendoza make some of the best wines in the world.
